2019 marks the Tenants Information Service’s (TIS) 30th anniversary – a significant milestone in the organisation’s history.
This anniversary creates an opportunity to reflect on how they have grown to become a national membership organisation, leading in the development of innovative and inspiring tenant participation and community engagement practice throughout Scotland.
At the core of the celebration is a vision for an active, inclusive, and just Scotland where communities are strong, equitable, and sustainable. A priority that will drive efforts to help change social rented housing in Scotland for the better as TIS celebrates with Members and key partnerships from across the sector.
To acknowledge the occasion, TIS is celebrating 30 years in 30 unique ways and has finalised a programme of #30For30 events throughout the year that has a firm focus on people and communities whilst raising funds and awareness for ‘Invisible Cities’. This social enterprise trains people who have experienced homelessness to become walking tour guides of their own city.
Their first act of 2019 is to unveil a bespoke anniversary logo which will become a feature of celebrations throughout the year, alongside an offering of 30% off all Scrutiny Approved Accreditation costs if registered to take part in the programme before Friday 30th August 2019.
Scrutiny Approved Accreditation harnesses expertise to measure performance and highlight the initiatives social rented landlords are taking to lead the way and sustain tenant scrutiny throughout Scotland. It recognises a level of customer participation, engagement, and influence by a standard of gold, silver, or bronze. Organisations that have taken part in the process so far include Hillcrest Housing Association (silver), Queens Cross Housing Association (silver), East Lothian Council (gold), and Irvine Housing Association (gold).
Other key highlights include staff volunteering, fundraising events, and a special themed National Housing Conference and Exhibition.
