‘Choices’ participatory budgeting initiative

Choices is Kingdom Housing Association’s participatory budgeting scheme that was launched in 2018.

The initiative was developed in partnership with the Association’s Scrutiny Panel and allows customers to access funds to support ideas that will improve their own communities.

It has a budget of £15,000 per year, which is in addition to funds already set aside for communal enhancements.

So far, the scheme has empowered seven groups of tenants to make a real difference to their developments. It has led to the installation of landscaped seating areas, planting of fruit trees, and fitting of bird/bat boxes.

What makes Choices particularly special is that it is tenants and customers who decide which ideas will be funded.

COVID-19 couldn’t stop Choices! With the most recent project having just being completed. You can see from the photos below the difference that it has made to the development. This has helped to give the residents who have driven and managed the project a much-needed boost during these difficult times.

We hope you’ll join TIS in applauding the Kingdom team for their fantastic efforts!
