Involving equalities groups
At TIS we can work with landlords to actively include tenants who are often excluded. The Equality Act 2010 has major implications for housing practices. TIS will help landlords and tenants to understand the main elements of this legislation.
TIS actively works to support organisations to tackle the social, educational and economic barriers that create inequality and poverty. Through tenant participation, support, advice, and training TIS work closely with others to ensure excellent housing standards and strong communities.
By applying ‘needs met’ approaches we have been able to work successfully and inclusively with:
- Rural communities
- Tenants with mental health needs
- Tenants in supported accommodation
- Marginalised groups
- Gypsy travellers etc.
