2017 Scottish Housing Regulator’s National Analysis shows social landlords have improved or maintained their performance across almost all of the Scottish Social Housing Charter Standards.
Scottish social landlords are continuing to perform well across almost all of the standards of the Scottish Social Housing Charter. This is the main finding of a new report published today by the independent Scottish Housing Regulator. The Regulator’s report gives the headline findings of its fourth, national analysis of landlords’ performance against the Charter standards. It found that, overall, landlords continue to deliver good services. Tenant satisfaction remains high, with nine out of ten social housing tenants satisfied with the overall service their landlord provides.
The Regulator published the report today alongside an expanded suite of tailored information that lets Scotland’s 610,000 tenants and 193 social landlords find out more than ever before about landlords’ performance. Tenants have access to a ‘landlord report’ that lets them to find out about and compare their own landlord’s performance. It focuses on areas tenants told the Regulator matter most: homes and rents, quality and maintenance, neighbourhoods, tenant satisfaction and value for money.
Tenants can also use the unique, award-winning interactive on-line comparison tool to see how their landlord’s performance has changed over the first four years of the Charter.
George Walker, the Chair of the Scottish Housing Regulator, said:
“Overall, Scotland’s social landlords are continuing to perform well. They’ve improved or maintained performance against almost all of the Social Housing Charter standards. This is good news for tenants, particularly given last year’s strong performance from landlords.
“On the whole, most tenants are satisfied with their landlord’s performance. Performance varies underneath the national picture and some landlords have more work to do than others to improve.“
Our landlord reports give thousands of tenants across Scotland information about their landlord’s performance. Our on-line comparison tool lets tenants compare their landlord’s performance against others. Tenants have told us that our reports are a useful and simple way to find out about how their landlord is doing when it comes to the things that matter most. I hope our information helps tenants to engage with their landlords and work together to keep improving the important services they provide.”
