Supporting people to get online

Customer Engagement Officer, Lita McHale, alongside two of her colleagues from Eildon Housing Association recently undertook Digital Champion training as part of the Connecting Scotland initiative.

Connecting Scotland is a Scottish Government programme set up in response to coronavirus. It supports the most vulnerable to get online and connect with friends and family, stay informed and entertained, and be able to learn, work, shop, and access health information and other public services.

Putting their training to good use, Lita has now delivered a number of devices and routers to Eildon tenants – supporting each individual to be able to use the internet safely, confidently, and effectively in a bid to tackle the negative effects of isolation.

Lita has also visited various sheltered accommodation developments to take part in singalongs, lifting the resident’s spirits with ‘golden oldies’ such as Moon River and When Irish Eyes are Smiling – as well as a few common riding songs, as in the Borders the local community were unable to hold common ridings in the same way this year.

We hope you’ll join TIS in applauding Lita for her fantastic efforts!
