We have extended the closing date for our national consultation, Social Housing Sector: Engaging with Tenants from Ethnic Minority Backgrounds
You now have until Friday 20th June at 5:00pm to share your views.
Your feedback is vital. The final report will be shaped by the experiences and insights we receive. Every response supports TIS to build a clearer, more accurate view of what is working well, what could be improved, and where positive change is needed.
The Tenants Information Service (TIS), commissioned by The Scottish Government, is leading a national research study which aims to gain a better understanding of the baseline of tenant participation and engagement amongst tenants from ethnic minority backgrounds within the Scottish social housing sector.
Tenant participation is most effective when tenants from all backgrounds and walks of life are represented and have opportunities to take an active role in shaping housing services that reflects their needs and priorities.
TIS urges all social housing providers in Scotland to get involved by completing a short consultation at: www.surveymonkey.com/r/TIS-EngagingTenants-EthnicMinorityBackgrounds.
The closing date for responses has been extended to Friday 20th June at 5:00pm.
Findings from the research study will inform a national report focused on identifying the barriers which affect engagement and participation between social housing providers and tenants from ethnic minority backgrounds. The findings will look to break down and overcome these barriers to foster fresh approaches to tenant participation – which enable all tenants to have their say in the housing decisions that affect them, their families, and communities.
Ilene Campbell – Chief Executive at TIS commented on the significance of the research study:
Representation isn’t just a box to tick – it’s about creating housing and wider community services that genuinely represent the people who live in them. Tenants from ethnic minority backgrounds bring unique perspectives, lived experiences, cultural insight, and fresh ideas that enrich decision-making and strengthen communities.
We are calling on all social housing organisations to help us to build a more inclusive future. Your support will help us to shape strategies that ensure every tenant has a seat at the table.
In addition to feedback from social housing providers, TIS is also inviting tenants from ethnic minority backgrounds living in social housing to share their experiences. This will ensure that the final report reflects real voices, lived realities, and practical insights from those at the heart of Scotland’s communities.
The study will also include desktop audits and engagement with community-based organisations that work directly with ethnic minority groups.
