Member Event- Participation: past to present

Free event for TIS members

Wednesday 29 April 2026
10.30am – 12pm
Online, via Zoom

This online session explores the historical roots of tenant participation in Scotland, placing it within the wider story of community development, social movements, and policy change. It traces how participation emerged from grassroots community action, how it evolved through increasing formalisation and professionalisation, and why its origins still matter today.

The session invites housing professionals and tenants to reflect on what has been gained – and what may have been lost – along the way, helping strengthen meaningful participation in current practice and future decision‑making.
